Students this week will follow Contour Lines to create shapes, explore line families and “See-Through” or Negative Shapes. They also practiced Unity and Variety,  the cornerstone to making elevated art, as well as practice patterns in this Fall Window Mosaic.   Wait until the light shines through!

Cy Twombly- Who Knew?

Children’s art tours with Museum Adventures @ the Metropolitan Museum of Art inspire everyone around them, making them look further into the pieces we do!  The children were drawn to a Cy Twombly and took it upon themselves to go to find the hidden marks and letters for which he is known.  Excited to see our Cy Twombly activity mural in Art Adventures provide the stimulation and connection!

Plaster mixing and pouring into forms with our students for a Rachael Whiteread-esque sculpture of negative space!

Through understanding negative space, students begin to “see” the inside spaces… whether it is sculptural, or between the lines for better drawing skills.
