For our first museum tour this new school year, we traveled to the Guggenheim Museum of Art!
Our Art Adventurers viewed the Guggenheim’s Artistic License & Basquiat exhibitions exploring lines, shapes and symbols, oh my!
It was all about abstract modern and contemporary art reviewing
our forms & sculptures with Giacometti;
geometric shapes, lines and patterns with Louise Nevelson; negative space, balance & color with Louise Bourgeois;
and finally, use of symbols, words and emotions with Basquiat.

With costumes on our minds and art in our souls, we spend time thinking about the benefits these elements have outside of just aesthetics and fun.
For our Sunday reads, we look into the work of Nick Cave for inspiration on artistic costumes with a message of social justice and love for all.

We boast confident, happy & excited children leaving our studio after each class.
What can your child develop?
Parents are often skeptical to over-schedule their children in the fall. School teachers warn parents to keep extra classes to a minimum during transitions.
We find, however, that CCA’s art classes are an exception. Why?
Because they are child-directed. They focus on exploration, as well as whatever is going on that day with each student, and acts as a supportive therapy in their schedule versus an extra “activity.”
Our studio is a place where children can rest from their busy schedules, receive individualized attention and to express themselves with or without words.
We can’t get enough of this Summer Sunshine! That just means time for more en plein air art. But where to start?
1. Choose your medium. Pencil? Pastels? Watercolor?
2. Pick your favorite outdoor spot (don’t forget water & sunscreen!).
3. And CREATE SOME ART
