Artwork inspired by Kandinsky, Malevich and Archipenko – masters of color, shape, and form!

6 and Up! Sulca Peruvian Pouches

We’ll be inspired by the textiles from Peru that we saw at the Metropolitan  Museum of art last week to make our own design. The Peruvian weavers used imagery and characters from their folklore in their designs. In our pouch compositions we will focus on using color to represent moods, events and memories. Each student will weave a small pouch out of yarn on a cardboard loom to hold every day objects.

6 and Up! Anni Albers Fabric Weaving

We’ll take a look at weaver Anni Albers’s work and draw inspiration from her use of alternative materials to create our own woven piece from fabric strips. This project will utilize our prior knowledge of color, line variation and patterns.
