This past Saturday in our Parent/Child Workshop, parents and children worked together with Cecile Chong to create their own Encaustics.  In class, we drew a story on canvases for the basis of our painting, covered them with encaustics, etched lines to be filled, and poored wax!

Take a peek at the fantastic results below and don’t miss out on our next Parent/Child Workshop on May 4th – Silkscreening with Gary Lichtenstein.

We love when Art Adventures inspires students to continue to create art at home!  After our tour of Picasso Black & White at the Guggenheim, Emily created a book reflecting her enjoyment of the tour.

Check out her amazing illustrations and book your tour today. Thank you for sharing with us, Emily!

Ever wondered what New York City looks like to birds and from planes?  Wish that you could fly and see?  Well now you can!  Come see The Panorama of the City of New York at the Queens Museum of Art.  Built by a team of 100 people working for architectural model makers Raymond Lester Associates over three years for the 1964 World’s Fair, it was part of the celebration of the City’s municipal infrastructure.  In 1992, Lester Associates made changes to over 60,000 models to bring the Panorama up to date.  Since 2009, the Queens Museum has adopted an Adopt-A-Building program to keep the Panorama in good condition and current. When you go and visit, create your own Scavenger Hunt by choosing a list of buildings and structures (like Citi Field) to find in the Panorama!

When: Open during museum hours

Where: Queens Museum of Art, New York City Building, Flushing Meadows Corona Park

For more information, visit the Panorama website.
