Museum Adventures Explores Metal with El Anatsui

In our Friday Museum Adventures tour of the Met, we explored the work of Ghanian artist El Anatsui, one of the leading African artists of today.  El Anatsui makes the most of recycled materials by transforming abandoned milk tins and metal bottle caps into beautiful tapestries that look like traditional woven textiles.  In the galleries, we created our own multi-media textiles using various metals and materials.

Work by El Anatsui can currently be viewed in his retrospective at the Brooklyn Museum and new work was recently on view at the Jack Shainman Gallery in Chelsea.
